History

1973
George & Jill Mure started the first licenced restaurant specialising in Tasmanian Seafood.

1975
Started first commercial mussel farm at Margate.

1977
Started Channel Craft, boat builders in Margate.

1978
Launched Melicent, which is the first purpose built drop line vessel to fish for Blue Eye (Deep Sea Trevalla). This developed the Blue Eye industry from a part time small operation to a 12 month significant fishery with Blue Eye on most menus.

1979
Opened the Fish Bar in King Street.

1980
Opened the Molle Street fish shop.

1987
Mures Fish Centre opens. It includes:
The Upper Deck a la carte seafood restaurant.
The Lower Deck licenced Bistro.
The Orizuru (Tasmania's first Sushi Bar, run by Hatano family)
Mures Fishing, with fish factory and fish mongers.

1990
Opened Mures Travel.

1991
Opened Mures Conventions eventually sold to Convention Wise, still in Mures Building.

1992
Started Mures Catering and Inbound Travel.

1993
Purchased LFB Kiella for Blue Eye fishery.

1993
George & Jill publish Mures Fish Tales.

1995
Succession plans set up for Mures family. Jill and George Mure plan to retire from active management in 1999. Owners are:
Sarah McMahon - Mures Upper Deck
Rick McMahon - Mures Tasmania
William Mure - Mures Fishing
Judy Mure - Mures Lower Deck.

2000
Will & Judy Mure opened Mures at Kingston - bistro takeaway & fishmongers.

2002
George & Jill Mure and Richard Bennet publish the Photographer, Cook and the Fisherman.

2003
George passes away putting more into his 64 years than most people put into 100 years.

2004
Will Mure locally builds and launches 23m Steel automatic long line vessel 'Diana', named after his Grandmother.

2004
Rick & Sarah McMahon build Jam Packed Café.

2005
Mures Kingston relocated in Channel Court.

2006
Glenorchy Fishing factory and retail outlet opened.

2007
Hatano family purchase Orizuru Sushi Bar from Jill Mure.

2007
Major renovation to Upper and Lower Deck and opening of Oyster Dive.

2009
Viewers Award Lifestyle Food Channel.

2010
AHA Best Tasmanian Seafood Restaurant Award.

2011
AHA Best Tasmanian Seafood Restaurant Award.

2012
Rick and Sarah McMahon sell the Upper Deck to Sarah's brother William and his wife Judy
